‘Confidence is a Teaching Asset’

A workshop for PGCE Students

What impact will your level of confidence have on your teaching practice, do you know?

A quote from a TES article says: "The teacher is a physical presence in
the classroom, and your students make judgments about you based on what
they see and hear"

.

Do you get the basics right?

Do you feel that your performance could
improve much more with increased confidence?

Joo-Lee Stock, Educational & Business Coach is passionate in her belief
that confidence is not just possible, it is essential to the performance
of the teacher.

This mini workshop will provide an enjoyable look at the serious topic
of having an energised and confident approach during your teaching
practice and beyond. This will be a great opportunity to:

•    Allow you to take time out to consider where you are on the
journey to your teaching goals
•    Determine how increased confidence could be brought to your own
classroom (and the staffroom!)
•    Consider what gets in the way of what you wish to achieve and
what steals energy in your working day
•    Learn the benefits of positive self talk and more importantly
the need to listen too

•    Agree a strategy for introducing more confidence and enjoyment
to your own classroom

What PGCE students at Durham University said:

"an enthusiastically delivered and engaging event with lots of tips to take into the classroom and improve aspects of teaching. Very thought-provoking"

"Definitely a very important workshop. If as a teacher I don't have confidence in myself and what I do, how am I to foster in my pupils these qualities. Therefore very beneficial, both regarding myself as a whole person and also in my role as a teacher"

"Helping you to look at the problems/difficulties you face and ways to move away from them to a more positive and rewarding experience"
