F. Little, Lecturer, University of Durham

Joo-Lee provided coaching to my current group of music secondary trainee teachers earlier in the academic year, and this was extremely well-received; the evaluations were most encouraging, and many students had commented that she had made a real difference to their ability to focus on goals, and in their capacity to reflect positively upon their current and future role as teachers.

I have also received personal coaching from Joo-Lee, and was inspired by her approach and by her depth of knowledge and skill. Part of this skill is delivering the coaching to meet the needs of the client, which may vary considerably; this personalisation was apparent in my session from the outset. I was encouraged to reflect carefully on aspects of my personal and professional life, with a view to gaining a deeper understanding of my present and future needs. This has enabled me to begin a process of development, and the confidence to take action where it might be required.

Joo-Lee is versatile and highly skilled. She is able to listen carefully to the specific needs of her clients, and to develop a well-planned and effective session on the basis of these requirements. This results in sessions which maximise output whilst minimising the need for extensive time input; she is able to work as effectively within a one-off session as she would in a series of sessions.

Joo-Lee is approachable, adaptable and delivers a very high quality service. I believe that she has the capacity to impact upon institutions and individuals in a most positive and enlightening way.

I think you could tell how excited I was to have had the opportunity to be part of this valuable workshop - thank you SO MUCH for being so inspiring and helping us all with these useful coaching techniques!

C. Fardoe, Teacher, Co Durham

(the most interesting thing for me was . . ) How useful and productive planning can be. Looking at your present position and setting dream goals and then realistic goals was really helpful. It gave me a new-found excitement to plan for the future. . . a very useful insight to your present situation and a very positive method of working on goals for the future. Not at all intrusive. A positive way to iron out your life and better your situation (present and future). It has really helped me a lot to sort through some difficulties in my life that I believe would have lingered if I hadn't had the coaching.
The coaching experience built my awareness that there are specialists out there in every field who can help. You do not have to carry the weight alone, there is always someone to ask.

K.H., Lecturer, Newcastle

“(Coaching) has made me aware of my attitude/behaviour when faced with a difficult situation/colleague.

I learnt great strategies that helped me keep calm and handle situations in a professional and cool manner! This also helped me de-stress and I have started to laugh again, I know I still need to work at a few techniques but the most important thing is I now can handle stress and difficult situations without tying myself in knots! I can step back and think positively!

(Coaching) is great way to look back at a situation and learn how to handle it better next time. It also helps to make you feel good about yourself; as a result you focus on achieving your goals.

One must remember that there is no magic formula; one has to exercise the strategies/technique/solution discussed during the coaching session. We must remember that the coach cannot perform miracles, she can only make suggestions, equip us with new strategies or listen,  we need to work hard to achieve our goals!”

. . .setting goals and targets for where I want to be, rather than just 'plodding on'. Now when I start to make achievable plans, and how to get there, I'm suddenly filled with much more optimism and a feeling I can do something to change my life and get what I want from it.

C. Trent, Librarian, Middlesborough

Empowering. It is fantastic to have someone take an interest in just you. Setting goals with someone who is going to be there to follow up progress forces you into achieving more . . . making a plan really works for me. Something down on paper rather than just good intentions.
. . . in actual fact the most powerful tool I had and kept coming back to was that exercise where I visualised not having made it and having to face myself with failing, being in the same boat as I'd always been in.
I have achieved something concrete in these three months and I have structures/plans for keeping working at it long-term.

Having taken a short career break and re-located to a new city, it was vital for me to find some direction.  Approaching Joo-Lee Stock for life coaching was the best step I could have taken.  Joo-Lee worked with gentle efficiency and intelligence to help me to identify key goals and values in my life.  With Joo-Lee, using simple yet effective tools, I found a new well of enthusiasm within myself.   I feel ready now to adjust to the new climate and look forward to using and developing the skills Joo-Lee has taught me.

Joo-Lee is an excellent coach who is able to quickly put you at ease.  She is a genuine and authentic person.  I looked forward to our coaching sessions because I knew that Joo-Lee would ask me incisive questions to really make me think in a way that I had not thought about before.  This helped me draw on all my resources and I was able to see things with a new perspective and I felt empowered to make the changes that I wanted to happen.

B. Birns, Director, Zootswing, Edinburgh

I had been thinking about many aspects of the business and it was encouraging to find out from the questions asked that I was heading in the right direction.
It was great at crystalising my thoughts and was motivating because it gave me extra confidence in what I was doing.

N. Watkins, Managing Director, Q4 Management Ltd, Newbury

Joo-Lee Stock is a truly exceptional person. She has the unique ability to blend the important need for process and procedure, with calmness, allied to an authentic interest in people, skills and attributes that make for an excellent coach.

I am only too delighted to act as a reference for this very capable and genuine person.
